Variation on a theme
my little chihuahua
dose not know she is small
she divines herself a giant
she does not cower under the gaze of
mail-men, big dogs, strange looking folks hobbling about
old tom-cats,
barks with abandon at pit-bulls, trucks,
potential and actual ruffians or scoundrels
she walks like she owns the street
not a foot high, she towers over the corner
shows her teeth at dealers and junkies
my little chihuahua knows her true size
